This week we are very excited to announce a special project that is taking place at Gio’s Garden. With the help of volunteers and landscape professionals, we are building an outdoor garden for the children who learn and play here. The colorful garden, designed by landscaper Mark Schingen and property owner Eric Gregerson, that gives children a natural environment to explore and encourage sensory learning, will run the length of one side of the home and include walking paths, a butterfly garden and a “living wall.” Store managers at The Home Depot’s Madison West location helped secure the funding and volunteer hours, and are happy to dig into a project that will both enhance the local community and help special needs children. This garden was designed with the kids in mind. It’s great to have the community come together once again to support our mission.
I will be posting pictures throughout the week to show the progress of the garden. Today Mark and some of his colleagues from other landscaping companies are here today mapping out the plan and getting the groundwork set for the large group of Home Depot volunteers that are coming on Thursday. Stay tuned throughout the week for more garden updates.
