So hard to believe that it is already July! Gio’s Garden has been open and serving families for a month now!
We have gotten a lot accomplished over the last month. We have started providing care for a few different families. It does take some time to fill out all the paperwork that is required in order to start care, but once it is all filled out, the process is a breeze. Families- We are highly encouraging you to fill out the paperwork now, even if they don’t think you need respite services at this point in time. When something does come up and respite is needed, we will be ready and can provide service right away. We have a lot of open time slots to choose from and are looking forward to having some more families join us.
So far the best part of the family process has been the one on one meeting with the parent(s). Once a family turns in all of the paperwork, we schedule a meeting to sit down and talk about care needs and services. Before you get here, we look at the services you are using and create a Resource List that is tailored to your family and your child. Parents have said that this is extremely beneficial and really helps them realize what else is out there and where to go next for resources or services.
Our Rock for Respite Event was a HUGE success, raising over $45,000! Thank you for everyone that was able to attend. We have another great event coming up soon, the 3rd Annual Gio’s Garden Classic. As you can see from the pictures on our “Events” page, everyone has fun! This year, it will again be at The Oaks in Cottage Grove and will take place July 19th. We are planning a few surprises for the course and, new this year…celebrity golfers! You can pay to golf all 18 with some big names from around the Dane County area. More on that to come! Foursomes are $500 or $125 per player. Hole sponsorships are $250. If you would like to hear about other sponsorship opportunities for this event or donate to the silent auction, please contact Ron at [email protected].
I’m hoping to give you updates weekly now that things have started to fall into a routine here at the house. Be on the look out for our future blogs where I will introduce the staff, talk about our upcoming themes for programming for our kids, our exciting new building projects, and the next big program we are going to be launching in the fall, a Parent Training Series!
Stay cool in this heat! And stay tuned for more great updates!
